We’re always looking for ways to minimize our impact on the planet, which in our case refers to always choosing the most environmentally friendly solutions throughout our whole business - in terms of climate impact and resource use. And as a brand with sustainability at its core, we also want to enable our customers to help with this cause. Making clothes takes a toll on the environment, that much we know. And by taking something from nature, shouldn’t we also give something back in return? We think so!
For the last 6 years, we've been working with the non-profit organization One Tree Planted. They give the opportunity to businesses and individuals to financially support their reforestation projects around the world.
In our case, we donate to One Tree Planted every November, during our Plant Friday Campaign. True to our values, we do not want to support Black Friday, which encourages impulsive purchases of things customers often don't need. Instead, we commit to donating part of our income earned during our Plant Friday Campaign to One Tree Planted to support their projects in India.
The planting projects are located mostly in Northern India. There, One Tree Planted's local partners work with local farming communities to plant fruit trees.
Why fruit trees? Like any vegetal being, fruit trees do their natural share in the fight to mitigate climate change by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere throughout their whole lifetime. But in addition, fruit trees also increase the income of local farming communities and provide food supplies. The trees will also fight pollution, conserve water, and prevent soil erosion because that’s what trees do! The reason why we specifically donate to projects in India is because 90% of our production is done there and we’d like to give something back.
Reforestation plays a vital role in restoring balance to our environment. Trees also improve air quality by filtering pollutants and releasing oxygen. Their roots stabilize soil, preventing erosion and conserving water resources. Reforestation projects further restore biodiversity, creating habitats for countless species.
Beyond the environmental impact, trees also support communities by improving land fertility and boosting resilience against extreme weather. In short, reforestation is a powerful, natural solution for both people and the planet.
